Children from Rio de Janeiro favela 'Cidade de Deus' were loaned cameras by Nikon to show their love of football and give a glimpse into their daily lives, as Brazil gears up to host the World Cup.
The project was the brainchild of AFP chief photographer Tony Barros, who spent more than five months with the children from the poverty-stricken favela neighbourhoods teaching them photography.
Barros explained that the project allowed the children to be "freed temporarily from the code of the favelas that often obliges them to turn the other way".
