Paddy Power has kept up its mischievous social media agenda by posting a series of responses to a man called 'Steve', who, it is claimed, accidentally contacted a member of the bookmaker's social media team.
The brand, which caused controversy with its Amazon rainforest prank earlier this summer, grabbed the bull by its horns when Steve texted who he thought was a girl he had met on a night out. The conversation lasted over six hours, and developed into a flirting frenzy.
It was only when Steve impressed the Paddy Power team by recognising a quote from The Office that they finally let him in on the joke – a joke that has been retweeted by thousands.
Thankfully, Steve saw the funny side, finishing on: "Hello internet. I’m Steve. I hope you enjoyed me being a complete tool."

A Paddy Power spokesperson told Marketing: "Social media is key to our overall brand strategy, when we look to develop a new campaign one of the first things we do is decide on a hashtag which will allow the campaign to be amplified through our twitter page.
"Social media also brings our brand to life online and allows us to interact with our customers in a manner that is true to Paddy Power."
