Fox Kids Europe launches interactive games on Sky
LONDON - Fox Kids Europe is to launch four of its interactive games on the PlayJam channel on Sky Active in April taking its reach to more than 8m households in the UK.
The deal marks a significant increase in the distribution of Fox Kids Play in the UK, which is already available on Telewest where it launched last year.
The games on Fox Kids Play are based on popular characters and content from Fox Kids Europe programming, which includes such animated favourites such as 'Power Rangers Ninja Storm', 'Digimon', 'Gadget and the Gadgetinis' and 'RoboRoach'.
Mel Alcock, executive director of commercial sales at Fox Kids Europe, said: "In securing such a significant increase in distribution through the launch on PlayJam's channel on Sky in the UK, Fox Kids can take its wealth of interactive gaming experience to the mass market, enabling millions of Sky consumers to interact with the Fox Kids characters in a new and fun way, providing another excellent platform beyond the TV channel."
Players can access and play the games via their remote control and are charged a pay-per-play fee. The service also includes high-score tables, fun activities and pay-to-enter competitions.
Mickey Kalifa, managing director PlayJam Worldwide, said: "This is the perfect fit with the PlayJam channel. Fox Kids characters and shows provide ideal content for creating interactive games. I have no doubt the games will prove to be highly popular on our channel."
Like the rest of Fox Kids, Play will eventually change its name to Jetix, which is to be the broadcastser's new brand name.
Fox Kids is selling the rebrand as an opportunity trade partners and clients to be associated with a new and global franchise while also retaining all their existing brand values and strategic localised approach to business.
No date has yet been set for the change of name for Fox Kids Play but the rest of the network will change to Jetix next month.
