LONDON - Alison Reay, who left Titan Outdoor this summer, has joined the Telegraph Media Group (TMG) as digital media director. TMG has also lured Emap Advertising trading director John Judge to take on agency and client trading negotiations.
Reay told Media Week she was drawn by a "real sense of dynamism" at TMG, where she will report to executive director Dave King and work with the executive director of consumer markets, Mike Moore, to target commercial opportunities. One focus will be driving online advertising revenues for Telegraph.co.uk.
She said: "Digital is a great opportunity for TMG, including online and mobile. It talks to clients across all platforms and has a really integrated approach to editorial, marketing and commercial activities."
Reay takes over from Shaun Gregory, who moved to mobile network Blyk in October. She would not be drawn on any upcoming digital projects. She said: "I’ve been watching digital since I left Yahoo! and have been particularly interested in The Telegraph, which has put digital at the heart of its business."
Reay left her role as Titan Outdoor's joint managing director just 14 months after she joined with a brief to turn the company around. She was previously UK commercial director at Yahoo!. King said: "Alison has a brilliant track record in creating long-term value in the multimedia arena."
Starting her career at Tyne Tees, Yorkshire and LWT Television, Reay has previously worked with Judge when both were at ITV. He also joins TMG this month as trading director.
Judge, who will report to TMG’s group trading director Jim Freeman, said the opportunity to be involved in a multimedia organisation was "too good an opportunity to miss".
He said: "It is a much bigger gig than at Emap in terms of the revenues that The Telegraph can command."
