LONDON - Google is still hiring despite last week laying off 200 sales and marketing staff in what was the internet company's biggest round of jobs cuts to date.

Reuters is reporting that Google is looking to fill about 360 vacant positions after announcing last week that 200 marketing staff would have to go due to "overlapping" and "over-investment".

The cuts were Google's third round of layoffs this year, after announcing the departure of 100 recruitment staff in January and a further 40 layoffs due to the closure of its Ad Sense for radio and print media programme.

However, Google encouraged the laid off staff to apply for other jobs within the corporation.

The company still has hundreds of vacant positions, from software engineers to financial analysts in its offices around the world.

About half the jobs are for Google's US offices, including a food services supply manager in its Mountain View, California headquarters, and others for its global proxies in cities including London, Cairo, Singapore, Krakow and Istanbul.
