This might be goodbye!

I've decided I'm wasting my time writing this blog. There are very rarely any comments or feed back. Which means people either don't care what I write about, don't like what I write about, or just don't give a toss about anything.

It's still New Years Day in America as I write this. So, I'll give it a week. If you don't think this whole thing is a big wank... Post a comment, and I'll keep on blogging. The funny thing is, my US blog... AdScam, gets tons of comments and an average readership of three to four thousand hits a day.

Does that mean US Ad people read more than British Ad people, or maybe spend less time in the pub?

Happy New Year George Oh dear you have been in the US for way too long. Have you forgotten that nobody in London works for most of December and half of January? I'm only in the office today to get away from the kids. And it's still a public holiday in Scotland. Why do they do that? Do they have bigger hangovers or what?

Bob... Congratulations. You have singlehandedly saved the blog. Mind you, if no one else comments, you may have only saved it for a week. You're right, they work all the time here, which is why they are such miserable f++kers. Don't forget, they drink beer with lemonade in it in Scotland. Drunk by women in England and known as a shandy. Happy New Year/George

Happy New Year George. I know how you feel, but my blog gets a steady trickle of comments and some feedback offline. I get the feeling the Brand Republic community is growing, and hopefully 2008 will see it take off.I hope you stick with it, I read Madscam and enjoy it, even though I am an interested outsider.

Stick with it, George. It's good to have someone on here with a fully operational bullshit detector.

George. I'm new to this blogging lark and it sounds like you have a list of admirers. Carry on the good work. George (the other)

Hi George... well I developed such a taste for a pint every lunchtime when working for a Media Sales Company in London i had to leave and come back to my local Media group which is situated on an industrial estate where consequently the worst I can do at lunch is buy a big mac and fries from the drive thru Macdonalds... anyway the point of that is, Yes; I think you ad people in the US spend a lot less time in the pub than us in the UK!!

Say it ain't so George?! I've have wondered why people don't post more comments here - but as i think i told you Madscam was the number three blog in terms of visits on BR, which is not bad going at all.

George P, I stop by to read you regularly, but rarely post. Silent appreciation I realise is not the kind that bloggers are looking for. Don't stop now.

George - it's probably because BR's "blogs" are nothing of the sort (they require registration to read, google can't see the posts, there are no trackbacks, the RSS feeds aren't obvious, you can't access the archives properly, etc etc) - Gordon assures me a fix is in the works - hold out until then? Or come back once they're fixed?

The role of a writer is not to say what we all can say, but what we are unable to say. ~Anaïs Nin George, I comment on posts that I feel need questioning, not ones that have answered questions I am yet to think of...if you keep writing, i'll keep reading. Tim

Oh Shit... OK... I'll keep going. I am overwhelmed... Or, underpickled... Or something. Shit, I'll do a post right now. Cheers/George

George - at the risk of repeating myself (from an earlier blog comment, a long time ago), comments are not the only sign of success on a blog. Yes, we would all like to see more comments but, as Gordon points out, George's blog is one of the best read on BR and having a big audience of savvy, media and marketing people is a massive compliment to all BR's bloggers. And, of course, Robin is correct. One man's blog is often another man's 'incomplete blog, with not all the functionality in place'. This is not necessarily the place to start the conversation about 'what is a blog' (though Robin might want to start that on his own blog), BR has made some improvements to its blogging platform, and, please feel assured that there is much more to come from BR in 2008. The essential point about BR's bloggers is that this may not be a 'true' blogging platform in the purists' eyes, but it is great way for BR to encourage different and diverse voices on the site. It has been an exciting development for us and we look forward to announcing more community developments on BR very soon.

There, see you're gaining public support by the hour George! Speaking of which, what's your expert analysis on the Iowa Caucus? Is it all doom and gloom for November?

Alex... Just posted on that... Primarily about the money that was spent... But, I'll do an update in a couple of hours about the political picture. It's early morning here... So don't go to bed just yet... Cheers/George
