Clive Owen named new face of Lancome
LONDON – British actor Clive Owen, star of the recent Spike Lee film 'Inside Man', has been named as the new face of L'Oreal-owned luxury cosmetic brand Lancome.
'Kill Bill' star Uma Thurman was dropped as the face of Lancome in October 2003 after just two years. Thurman, who is 36, is understood to have been dropped for being too old. Owen, who lost out on the James Bond role to Danielle Craig, is 41.

The hiring of Thurman was believed at the time to have been an attempt to quash speculation that the departure of her predecessor, French actress Juliette Binoche, was down to her age.
Previous faces of Lancome have included American Pie actress Mena Suvari, model Georgianna Robertson and Mick Jagger's daughter Elizabeth.
Thurman later became the new face of French fashion house Louis Vuitton in December 2004, where she featured in the clothing line's advertising campaign.
Rugged actor Owen has also appeared in the films 'The Pink Panther', 'Closer', 'Sin City' and 'King Arthur'.
