Jesus image in beer glass used for Church campaign

LONDON - The face of Jesus is to appear in a beer glass in this year's Christmas campaign for the Churches Advertising Network, in an attempt to get young people talking about God online at MySpace.com

Created by Radioville, the "where will you find him?" campaign includes a striking poster depicting the face of Jesus in a beer glass and a series of seven radio ads in which young people talk about their spiritual beliefs.

The ads point to the social networking website MySpace and urges young people to talk about their views and experiences of God.

According to Radioville, the agency took the traditional silly-season news story in which people find images of Jesus in the side of trees, in a slice of toast or within the bubbles of cheese on a pizza, and developed a number of new images showing Jesus's face in unexpected places.

Richard Johnston and Mark Gilmore, who produced the poster at Radioville, said: "Because of the season, CAN chose the beerglass route, where Jesus' face is captured in the froth running down the side of an empty pint glass. The responses expected on MySpace.com when the campaign launches should be quite illuminating."

Francis Goodwin, chair of the Churches Advertising Network, said: "We're excited by this year's campaign. We want the campaign to spark discussion about God, and we think these ads will help do that."

The MySpace.com page will include a link to the Rejesus website, which has creative features and information on the Christian faith.

Last year, a poster depicting Jesus as Che Guevara was used for the campaign, which invited people to text "hero" or "zero".
