Nokia seeks digital shop for music task

LONDON - Nokia is hunting for an agency to develop a global online music presence for the brand.

The handset manufacturer is understood to have contacted three agencies and will be holding pitch meetings at the end of this month. Jenny Williams, Nokia's recently appointed global head of advertising, is leading the search.

The brief asks agencies to create an overall theme to link the brand with music worldwide, with a focus on China and the Far East.

Nokia has promoted its link with music since 1997, when it launched a phone with downloadable ringtones. Since then, it has associated itself with music events both in the UK and overseas.

This week, Nokia renewed its sponsorship of ITV's 'The X Factor' and also announced it would sponsor a one-off celebrity spin-off, 'The X Factor: Battle of the Stars'.
