Classic FM to educate about classical music on new site

LONDON - Classic FM has relaunched its website and recruited new personnel to bolster its online offering.

The improved site will include a learning zone, which provides advice on classical music, a live stream of Classic FM TV and interactive games, including a Classic FM Su Doku game. A free premium service and newsletter including a high quality audio stream will be available for those who register.

In the past two years, the www.classicfm.com CRM programme has grown the station's database to more than 400,000 names.

Darren Henley, Classic FM station manager, said: "As well as offering a real added benefit to our listeners, the new Classic FM website strengthens our brand proposition, while driving new people to our CRM programme."

Alongside the relaunch, Classic FM has strengthened its online team, with the appointment of Angie McFarlane to the position of senior new media and CRM editor and Janina Nicoll as new media & CRM producer.

McFarlane was editor of the Capital Radio website and more recently worked as a consultant on websites for Robbie Williams, Max Factor, Herbal Essences and Olay. Nicoll joins from Trinity College of Music, where she was PR and marketing manager.

The relaunch of the website is the latest brand extension for the GCap Media-owned station, which has also launched a TV station, magazine, record and publishing division.
