Haymarket to launch Digital Media next year

Media Asia 05-Oct-06, 08:06

Haymarket Media Asia will launch Digital Media, a sister title to Media, next spring, to focus on digital content and digital media platforms.

Digital Media will launch a pilot issue of 15,000 copies in November, a project led by Haymarket Media Asia's editor-in-chief Sharon Desker Shaw.

"Agencies are predicting that advertising spend on digital media platforms will rise sharply next year," said Shaw.

"Digital Media will be there to document this shift, as well as the stories and lessons provided by companies that succeed in navigating the digital media landscape with ease."

Pixel Media Asia CEO Kevin Huang noted that the digital marketing sector in Asia is experiencing high and sustainable growth.

"Major brands are investing heavily on their digital strategy," he said.

"With the speed of change and rapid development in this space, a publication dedicated to the sector to keep all stakeholders well informed of the latest developments, trends and news is welcomed."

Meanwhile, OgilvyOne Hong Kong managing director Sean Rach pointed out that in today's changed media landscape, digital media has become mass — while, increasingly, mass media is becoming digital.

"The implications for the advertising and marketing communications industries have already begun to be felt," Rach said.

"A range of technologies and media forms — from computers and phones to digital outdoor and point-of-sale — is empowering consumers worldwide to take control, expecting and even demanding a dialogue with brands on their terms. Many eyes will be on Asia as we use the highly developed infrastructure to communicate in new and exciting ways."
