VNU is hoping that the addition of video will reinforce its market position leader and boost visitor numbers, which currently total around 4m users a month.
VNU will be offering original video content created by its editorial teams and content from media suppliers, specifically business, science and technology news.
Roo video players will be user-customisable and accessible on the homepages of each website.
John Barnes, deputy managing director of VNU, said: "From early in the planning for the launch of VNU's internet TV service we were looking for a partnership that could increase page views, keep visitors on the site longer and generate strong new revenue streams through creative, targeted advertising opportunities.
"Roo's ad-supported video solution, premium content and total video management package promises just that."
Robert Petty, CEO of Roo, said: "Roo's ability to provide VNU’s four-million online users with original content from an array of top-tier news and entertainment channels will make the online experience far more compelling and dynamic for site visitors."
Formed in 2001, Roo recently sold a 5% stake to News Corporation. As well as deals with VNU it has recently worked with The Times Online, the Sun, FT Online and the MGN Digital.
