Royal Mail appoints car parts chief to run letters
LONDON - Royal Mail has appointed Ian Griffiths, group managing director of car parts firm GKN Automotive, as managing director of its letters business.
Griffiths, who will also join the Royal Mail Holdings board, is expected to join the postal operator early next year, taking day-to-day responsibility for letters from Royal Mail group chief executive Adam Crozier.

Crozier has been running the letters business since April 2004, and has overseen an improvement, bringing the company's best First Class quality of service figures to date last quarter.
Crozier said: "Ian is arriving at Royal Mail with an impressive background in managing large workforces to deliver excellent service for customers and profitable performance for shareholders in a highly competitive and fast-moving workplace."
