UKTV puts finishing touches to advertising roster

by Gareth Jones, Marketing 17-Jan-07

UKTV is believed to have finalised a roster of five agencies to handle ad campaigns for its portfolio of 10 digital TV channels.

The broadcaster has held chemistry meetings with Albion, farm
Communications, Karmarama, Quiet Storm and Red Bee Media to discuss
marketing strategy, initially for its UKTV Gold, UKTV Style, UKTV G2 and

UKTV Food channels. The agencies will create integrated campaigns on a

project basis from the second quarter of this year.

The pitch is being handled by the AAR and UKTV's head of network brand,
Kerry Yates. UKTV will confirm the line-up of agencies when it completes
its six-week review next month.

UKTV has previously worked with Karmarama and Mother. In July 2004, the
latter created ads featuring spoof foreign versions of British comedy
shows to support UKTV Gold's 'Summer nights of comedy'.

The broadcaster is understood to be keen to focus its 2007 promotional
activity on network-exclusive programmes including UKTV Gold's Terry
Wogan Now and Then and Jim'll Fix It Strikes Again.
