Data Protection 2013 - 180 days to save your industry
On 8 January 2013, the EU announced a number of proposed changes to the draft EU Data Protection Regulation that have turned matters from bad to worse for companies whose business depends conversations through direct channels with customers to drive sales.
Protect your industry, protect your business
The EU's announcement has made data protection an urgent priority for businesses: the clock is now ticking on a 180-day countdown till the draft Regulation starts to pass through the European Parliament.
In response to the looming threat, the DMA is hosting a half-day conference on Friday 8 February that will give you the lowdown on how the EU Data Protection Regulation stands to impact the direct marketing industry, how it could adversely affect your business and how you can respond to the threat.
Data Protection 2013
In just one morning, speakers at the Data Protection 2013 will give you the exec summaries you need to get to grips with the business challenges you'll face.
You'll learn from Information Commissioner Christopher Graham on proposed changes to the Regulations regarding the definition of personal data, the limitations on customer profiling and consent to direct marketing.
You'll hear from Microsoft's Chief Envisaging Officer Dave Coplin on how the tech giant is preparing their business for the Regulations.
You'll pick up tips on how to comply with the Regulations from Governor Technology's Richard Beaumont.
And the DMA's Director of Public Affairs, Caroline Roberts, and the DMA's Executive Director, Chris Combemale, will explain how the small things that you can do could make a big difference in the ongoing campaign to lobby the lawmakers - while there's still time.
