The Women and Sport Conference
Fri 27 Nov 2009
8:30 AM to 5:30 PM
CBI Conference Centre
It's an exciting time for women and sport.
The past twelve months have created some remarkable headlines for Women and Sport; the England cricket team winning the World Cup, Jessica Ennis' remarkable gold medal at the World Championships, England's run to the final of the UEFA European Championships, the Caster Semanaya controversy, super-Mum Kim Clijsters continued funding debates and much more.
Results on the track, pitch, court, pool or field have given triumphant female athletes a huge increase in media attention. New technology offers a higher profile for previously hidden sports and athletes. Whilst the development of sponsorship and funding have given more athletes greater routes to success.
However, there is still plenty of work to be done or this growing momentum will be lost. With the major sporting events set to dominate the agenda in the coming decade there has never been a greater opportunity for women’s sport to achieve its potential.
This landmark conference is the first major look at the growing world and sport in the UK and all it's components; the media, sponsorship, marketing, funding and education. Each of these topics will be discussed by the leading voices in the area in a lively, insightful and important event:
