Future of Mobile

Wed 9 Dec 2009
8:45 AM to 1:00 PM
RBS

There appear to be wonderful commercial opportunities across the mobile market and exciting technological innovations. However there is still very little related advertising revenue.
The greater penetration of smart phones is at the root of many of these opportunities. This makes it the ideal time to consider the future of mobile advertising.

This morning only seminar will host two panels to discuss:

The first panel will discuss:

    * Who 'owns' the customer? Telecom operator, handset manufacturer, software provider?
    * And who owns the customer data...and what can be achieved with this?
    * How important does software become in the ownership battle and the ability to create advertising revenue?
    * Location-based opportunities - What can we be expecting in the next 2-3 years?
    * What are the services that customers currently use and in the future, will use, that will be the 'must have' products?
    * Are current 3G networks able to cope with the anticipated demand for services or do we need to see LTE (4G) networks to enable data-heavy services that can also generate advertising revenues and are dynamic?
    * The importance and commercial opportunities for mobile attached to cloud computing.
    * The implications of a more widely available i-phone.

The second panel will discuss:

    * How can operators reduce churn rate? Should this be a higher priority than driving new revenues?
    * What are the key current revenue streams and the major future opportunities?
    * What new innovations are we seeing around revenue streams post Blyk (in the UK)?
    * How big an opportunity are apps for advertisers?
    * Who is driving change? What are the key blockers?
    * Why are most media agencies still not recommending mobile to their clients? How can that change?
    * Mobile plus... ? Which traditional media work best alongside mobile and why?
    * Are there any media owners who can be seen to have "cracked" this yet?
    * Industry audience data - what is needed? Is this being fully addressed?
