You can now view the debut show on Brandrepublic.tv. This monthly series of webchats is a brand new initiative from the BR team. You can watch an exclusive interview with Moray MacLennan, the president of the IPA, who talks about the big issues in advertising, media and marketing.
Let us know what you think of the show - it's going to be a monthly series, so please let us know who and what you might want to see on brandrepublic.tv in our upcoming shows.

It was ok, but the IPA doesn't really affect many people directly so it was like any ad agency chief talking about adland. What would be really interesting would be  a filmed debate - say those for and those against Gorilla, where does this improve the bottom line etc, real issues.

Or get someone in from Mother vs someone from Saatchi to debate structure. Or get someone in from W&K vs someone from Publicis to argue the idea of agency positioning statements

I really like that idea - feel to suggest your ideal debaters. Who might argue against the idea of running ads like the Gorilla? After all, didn't Cadbury come out and say it had boosted sales recently. I wonder, do you feel a different campaign/approach would have boosted sales even more?
But, yes, the to-ing and fro-ing on key issues like how to structure an agency in 2008 could also start something interesting. I hope Moray's interview helped set the scene, but it's useful to get an idea of what others think are the real issues. I'll post details of the next show here as soon as I have them confirmed.

Sure, I mean the concept I really like, Brandrepublic TV. And of course you're going to start with the IPA so I'm probably being over critical.

The gorilla ad debate I guess could be two creatives go head to head but the structure debate or the agency positioning one is something I think would be really juicy to watch.

I think you should go further than just "Debates" and have rows & RUCKS like they do on Jerry Springer

I mean....seriously, get with the times, we're living in the reality TV era, we want hairpulling and ripped blouses not pontificators engaged in debate

With the help of Honda F1 Racing, we take a look at the very different worlds of green marketing and sports sponsorship in the second show on Brand Republic.tv which is now live. As the latest F1 season gets underway, David Butler, marketing director of Honda F1 Racing, and Stuart Dyble, head of sport at entertainment management agency 19, talk about why brands can get more out of sports sponsorship. There's more - with video of Honda F1's new car and some other guests too.
Our next show will take a look at Creative Britain, and while there are no 'rucks' planned, we will pick up on many of the ideas here.

Why was a green issue chosen? There is serious green fatigue and it's, well, just not very interesting to have a car manufacturer talking about it. For the topic of green to be of interest with your audience you would have been far better getting John Grant on to talk over some more interesting elements of this yaaaawn topic. Come on BR, you have an amazing platform idea here but you're letting it down with dreary content.

Thanks for the feedback. I have to say I think there is still plenty of interest in green - and, clearly, a lot of activity from brands who want to get involved. I simply thought it would be interesting to combine the power of a brand name like Honda and the growing area of sports sponsorship to come up with a different take on the subject. Brandrepublic.tv won't solely concentrate on creative issues or topics, but, rest assured, we'll make sure they are well represented.

Sure, I'll have a gander at it over lunch, I'm being very ad-selfish
