Steve Williams chief executive, Maxus North America

Given his loyalty to OMD, it was something of a surprise when Steve Williams relocated to the US two years ago to become the president of PHD New York – it just seemed a smaller train set. At least he stayed within the Omnicom group, where many thought he would play out the rest of his career. But Williams, 49, has clearly not lost his ability to surprise, and will take the helm at WPP’s Maxus North America next month. He replaces Louis Jones, who is retiring, and will be in charge of agencies in Chicago, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York and Toronto.
