Group Account Director – Excellent Agency – Soho, London – to £80k

Multi-award winning central London agency seeks a strategic Group Account Director to direct a leading direct-marketing led retail account and transport account.

The split of time between these two accounts will be retail account [80%] and transport account [20%].

The Group Account Director they are looking for:

The retail account is growing and there is a need to recruit a second Group Account Director to look after 50% of the overall account.

The agency are looking for an experienced Group Account Director who enjoys and is experienced in directing a large account team handling many areas of a complex business.

As Group Account Director, you will be responsible for the strategy, creative development and production of all of the retail account’s loyalty mailings.

The Group Account Director will also work closely with the ATL agency on the transport account. The Group Account Director will need to have a good grasp of strategy and development and its expression in the CRM channel.

The Group Account Director should be able to demonstrate a commitment to effective measurement and evaluation and their experience should ideally extend to working closely with ATL Planners and account teams as well as possessing a breadth of digital credentials.

For both accounts the agency require a Group Account Director who will provide strong leadership, drive and strategic vision. The successful Group Account Director will be able to manage the team through strong interpersonal skills, planning and organisation.

As well as day to day management of account teams, the Group Account Director will maintain a culture of ‘can do’ thinking and innovation within the agency, seeking opportunities to grow the account as well as be proactive within agency life.

The successful Group Account Director will also need to have solid experience directing below-the-line clients including both direct mail and digital. They must also have solid experience and therefore deep understanding of working in customer relationship marketing.

Group Account Director capabilities the Agency expect to see in addition to those listed above:

·         First class relationship-building skills and ability to build relationships at a senior level

·         Ability to drive projects and strategies forward. Does not let timings slip and is ‘on’ every aspect of their account.

·         Broad commercial acumen including the profitable management of accounts and the ability to negotiate fees/manage costs

·         Good approach to leading a team

·         Commercially acumen

·         Results focused

·         Ability to identify new opportunities on this existing business and develop new revenue streams

Skills & Experience Required for the Group Account Director Role:

  • You have been operating at Group Account Director level for at least 2 years, preferably at a leading BTL agency
  • Solid Customer Relationship Marketing experience is key as this is the main focus of the account
  • Previous experience in the loyalty market will be advantageous
  • Great commercial acumen is required to manage and drive incremental business opportunities on the account
  • Knowledge of data and an understanding of segmentation and testing strategies
  • Strong delivery skills – you will need to be able to manage a team to deliver DM and digital solutions across a range of projects at one time
  • Be able to work with clients across all levels and demonstrate gravitas
  • Be able to manage junior members of the team positively and be great at motivating a team
  • Great attention to detail

    Team Structure and Management Responsibilities for the Group Account Director Role:

    As Group Account Director, you will be responsible for managing 2 Account Directors, 3 Senior Account Managers, 1 Account Manager and 2 Account Executive across both accounts.
