Art Director (Ref: CampaignOL-UW-AMS-ADR)

The Art Director will lead editorial design of the monthly glossy magazine and work closely with the editor and publisher to ensure that the overall design and layout of the magazine is consistently vibrant, fresh and smart for the discerning, sophisticated reader who can appreciate the best things in life. You will be responsible for setting high visual standards for the magazine and all the photos, illustrations, and graphics that appear in it. You should also be able to manage a cost-effective budget and liaise with production and editorial to make sure deadlines are met while ensuring that the magazine’s overall brand is consistent over print and digital.
Primary responsibilities:

  • Formulate basic layout design for both print and digital products where necessary;
  • Review and approve art materials, copy materials, and proofs of printed copy;
  • Manage projects and budgets;
  • Review illustrative material to determine if it conforms to standards and specifications.
  • Initiate ideas for illustrations and photo sessions;
  • Attend photo shoots and printing sessions ensure quality;
  • Provide sourcing and liaison with outside suppliers, including photographers, illustrators, and whenever necessary, creative freelancers.

Skills and experience:

  • Designer degree or equivalent qualifications;
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience with a reputable publishing company; experience in advertising agency can be considered;
  • Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash, QuarkXpress, PowerPoint and other common design software;
  • HTML, PHP and other Web experience a big plus;
  • Ability to think out of the box;
  • Resourceful, ideas driven and willing to push the boundaries;
  • Strong knowledge of the entire production process of magazines or other publications.
  • Work in Tai Po, shuttle bus is provided.
