A fantastic opportunity with an enterprising organisation has arisen in central London. The Content and Communities Manager will create content for the website, blog and other digital channels. A large focus of the role is to build the social community to increase engagement with, and understanding of the organisation and its work. This role will ensure the company has a strong, user-centred digital presence and support the delivery of the digital strategy.

What does a Content and Communities Manager do?


- Produce and source content for use across multiple channels and in a number of formats, including video, webinars, graphic and written content
- Manage, moderate and curate digital content across all channels
- Drive content generation by supporting colleagues to produce quality written and video content
- Manage technical aspects of content production including video editing, webcast and webinar production
- Develop and maintain systems to manage and maintain digital content and other assets
- With the Head of Digital, develop and deliver a user-generated content (UGC) strategy

Community management

- Initiate and engage audiences in conversation across all social media channels and platforms to drive traffic to the website, blog and social community platform
- Evolve and enable the team`s use of social media to increase awareness of and engagement with the organisation and its programmes and other work
- Alongside the Digital and Social Media Manager, develop community management policies and processes to support the broader team

Website and platform development

- Working with the Digital team and external suppliers, manage the development of a new company social community platform
- Oversee migration of existing communities to new social platform and build from this core to create a thriving online community
- Work alongside Digital and Social Media Manager and external suppliers to ensure systems integration, functionality, stability, accessibility and security are maintained
- Initiate analytics projects to provide insights into user behaviour and then user test and implement on-going improvements to our digital platforms and the content

Delivery and impact

- Ongoing market analysis: identify trends, technologies, new developments in user experience and standards in the digital industries to continually improve the Design Council`s digital offer
- Collate and interrogate statistics (from our websites and social media channels) to feed into on-going analysis, reporting and website development
- Drive efficiencies in operating costs, seeking value from contractors and suppliers

Skills and Experience Required

- Proven editorial skills, good at writing punchy copy and provocative blog content
- Solid experience of web CMS, CRM systems and HTML and with a sound software and technical skills base
- Experience of working through a variety of channels and platforms, and a practical understanding of both back and front end technical systems
- Sound working knowledge of Photoshop and Adobe After Effects/iMovie
- Experience of working on high profile websites/platforms and adept at producing content for complex audiences and in a number of formats
- Experience of setting up and running online communities and managing/analysing the use of social media to increase awareness and effect perception
