Microsoft pursues location-based mobile search
LONDON - Microsoft's Live Search mobile service has been enhanced for UK users with the ability to return search results relevant to their current location.
Live Search uses Mobile Commerce's Location Gateway service, which works without the need to collect the user's mobile number.
When users click on the 'Find my location' link on the Live Search page, Live Search uses Location Gateway to perform a location look-up to return co-ordinates and a meaningful description of where the user is.

This is seamless to the user who sees Live Search automatically updated with their estimated location.
Steve Page, chief executive of Mobile Commerce, said: "We are delighted that our technology is being used by a globally iconic company like Microsoft.
"With our input, mobile users can access the local information that matters when they need it most, quickly, easily and no matter where they are."
