Smooth breakfast goes down under for South Australia promotion
The South Australian Tourism Commission has signed a deal with GMG Radio to broadcast the Smooth Radio breakfast show with Simon Bates live from South Australia for five days in September
Smooth Radio: promo deal with the South Australian Tourism Commission
'Live in South Australia: Bates' Travels on Smooth Radio', will run for five days from Monday 12 September. Bates will give away a holiday to South Australia for two, on Friday 16 September.
Across the week, Bates will broadcast from a different location each day, taking in sights such as Kangaroo Island, the Flinders Ranges mountain range in the Australian Outback and South Australia's capital city, Adelaide.
The presenter will blend his own wine in the Barossa Valley, see the flora and fauna on Kangaroo Island, which is situated off the coast of South Australia, and he will sample Australian food and wine, and traverse the wild terrain of the Outback.
In addition to the main prize of a holiday, Bates will be giving away £500 in cash to listeners who text in the correct answer to a question based on a 30-second piece of audio, in what Smooth is calling the 'South Australia Audio Postcard' competition.
The deal was booked directly between GMG Radio and the South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC) and all editorial and promotional material will be made by Smooth Radio.
Janice Kurrle, UK marketing manager at SATC, said: "We are really excited about this forthcoming broadcast and look forward to extending a real Aussie welcome to Simon, his production team and most importantly, to his listeners.
"We believe South Australia offers visitors memorable landscapes, unforgettable wildlife experiences, world-class food and wine, and most importantly, genuine, heartfelt hospitality."
The partnership includes online, with videos, blogs and a route map of Bates’ trip around South Australia on the Smooth Radio website, where an additional £500 will be offered as a cash prize.
Richard Jacobs, head of commercial strategy, GMG Radio, said: "This is the very first time the breakfast show has broadcast live from another country. It's a perfect way to engage Smooth Radio listeners who love to travel, with the delights of South Australia."
