Media Bitch's Diary 25 November

This week, Bitch watches a bear held to ransom by Outdoor Plus, uncovers an opportunity to lunch with City AM's Lunchmaster, and remembers the tragedy of Steps with Gaydar.

Outdoor and bear

Bitch is all about the charity this week, with all the contact she's received being about doing good. Odd for media – anyone would think it's approaching Christmas or something sweeties.

Take this tale of a little bear with an eye patch called Pudsey that the out-of-home company Outdoor Plus seem to be hanging over the Euston Road underpass in some sort of, "if you don't donated we drop the bear into the oncoming traffic", scenario.

Luckily, for the Children in Need mascot, it's not like that at all, as Outdoor Plus donated their four London-based digital screens to the charity during the broadcast of the show, to update the public (at least in London) of the progress of the telethon.

The screens involved were: The Eye (Holborn), two at the Euston Road Underpass, and CPW (Western Avenue).

Lunch with the Lunchmaster

The boys at City AM have got Santa to get his sack out for the boys and girls in Africa, Bitch has been told.

The City free paper is supporting Opportunity International, a charity that "helps poor and finance-starved Africans fend for themselves."

As well as calling for donations from readers supported by Lloyds Banking Group, City AM will be holding an online auction to win a golf day with the title’' golf correspondent and Ryder Cup star, Sam Torrence, and lunch with the editor Allister Heath.

However, Bitch has to say that the top prize must be lunch with the paper's managing director Lawson 'Lunchmaster' Muncaster.

Lawson Muncaster

The winner of the auction should probably book the afternoon off though, as Bitch knows that Lawson likes a lunch with the right company and has been known to make an afternoon of it (like his naughty City banker friends, still claiming bonuses after dropping the country in the excrement).

Not to lump Lawson in with those scoundrels, as the only bonus this MD is partial to is a nice bottle of red, and Bitch can't blame him for that.

For those of you who haven't met the Lunchmaster, he's a jolly, large man, occasionally with rosy cheeks, so Bitch is pretty sure who'll be playing the office Santa at this year's City AM Christmas do, and if any of the City AM types want to smuggle Bitch a photo of that, she'll definitely print it.

Stepping up the fundraising

Bitch needs to remind you media boys and girls that it's World Aids Day next Thursday (1 December), so don't forget to go out and buy those ribbons for a good cause.

This year, GaydarRadio has taken the fundraising to another level with the auctioning of signed DAB Radios (Bitch is still wondering what happened to the DAB revolution, but she digresses).

Celebrities including George Michael (get well soon sweetie), 'X Factor' judges Gary Barlow and Kelly Rowland, boy band JLS, Paul O’Grady and Stephen Fry have all signed a DAB set to be auctioned on eBay.

GaydarRadio

Even the stars of yesterday have got in on the act, clambering for a bit of publicity, with bubble gum pop group Steps joining the party. Gaydar is promising to reveal further high-profile "stars" over the coming days.

Bitch thinks that if they're around the level of Steps, Gaydar should quit while it's ahead. Good luck with the auction though darlings.

Well it's the build up to Christmas my little media elves, so take it easy on the Sherry.

Bitch xxx
