Flack's Week: 9 March
Flack, this week, had a smoke with the pro-smoking lobby group FOREST, joked with Nick Ede about liposuction, comforted Lionel Zetter over being missed off the UKPAC register of lobbyists and raised a glass to the agencies that made it on to The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies To Work For list...
Mark Littlewood: director-general of the Institute of Economic Affairs
Flack attended a party for pro-smoking lobby group FOREST's 'Hands off our packs' campaign, which opposes government plans to introduce plain packaging for cigarettes. Appropriately, Guido Fawkes didn't make it off the balcony during the speeches, as he was inhaling nicotine. He missed director-general of the Institute of Economic Affairs Mark Littlewood telling the room that arch-nemesis ASH has proven that 'smoking is one of the leading causes of statistics' ...
EdenCancan's creative director Nick Ede joked that he was looking forward to celebrating with new client Love Lite Ice, which offers non-invasive liposuction. He said that working on the account would leave him 'half the man I used to be'. Groan...
Faith in the brand-spanking new UKPAC register of lobbyists has been shaken by the fact that high profile public affairs figure Lionel Zetter had somehow fallen off the register. One source said: 'It's amazing - he's a former president of the CIPR and has been going to all these meetings about the lobbying register issue and he's not even on the UKPAC register.' UKPAC's Elizabeth France responded: 'We have some catching up to do.' ...
Congrats to a handful of PR agencies that made it into The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies To Work For list last week. Iris, which is mainly advertising, came 30th, followed by Edelman (75th), Weber Shandwick (83rd) and Engine Group (85th). Look out for the barrage of CVs, agencies ...

Lucky Voice Soho got a 'treat' when a motley crew from Propeller rocked up for one of its team nights out. Cocktail glasses and eardrums came under threat as the group hollered their way through a list of classics including Frank Sinatra's My Way and Summer Nights from Grease.
Any PROs unsure of the ground rules at Taylor Herring got this biblical tuition. While Flack can understand the eschewing of QR codes and Foursquare- just so 2011 - it is sure the world would be a duller place without celebrity lookalikes - the worse the better - and ever-hilarious food art. And think about all those unemployed 3D street artists ...
The knives were out last week as Fleishman-Hillard bravely gathered 168 healthcare PROs at Tiger Tiger for the annual inter-agency healthcare quiz. For once, the 16 agencies were not fighting over new business, but trivia. After some controversial Play-Doh creations, Hill & Knowlton was crowned the winner and has the 'honour' of organising the next quiz.
Flack: (Saving) on Expenses - Casa Brindisa, London SW7
Reviewer: Tamara Vazquez Perez, campaign manager, Ember Communications
What is it good for?
Step inside Casa Brindisa and you could be forgiven for forgetting you are in London. Although busy, the newest of the Brindisa family has a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. The number of Spanish speakers who can be overheard there further endorses the authenticity of the high quality tapas served.
Try the chorizo tortilla for a nice twist on the favourite Spanish staple and don't miss the strawberry crema catalana for dessert.
Who's the boss?
Magdalena Brurak, the manager, oversees her knowledgeable staff, who are attentive and on hand to offer recommendations.
Tapas is all about sharing, so try something new and order your dishes to come in rounds; cold tapas first followed by the hot dishes.
What's the damage?
Depending on the dishes chosen, two tapas and a dessert will cost between £18 and £20 per person. The Borsao 2010 Macabeo white wine is £17.50 a bottle.
Casa Brindisa, 7-9 Exhibition Road, London, SW7 2HE, 020 7590 0008.
