Cannes 2012: Press, Outdoor, Media and Direct juries unveiled
The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity has unveiled the members of the 2012 Press, Outdoor, Media and Direct Lions juries, led by representatives from JWT, Ogilvy & Mather, OMD Worldwide and Y&R Interactive.
Cannes: unveils jury members
President of the Outdoor jury is Lo Sheung Yan, executive creative director at JWT, North East Asia and chairman, China. The Press jury president is Tham Khai Meng, worldwide chief creative officer of Ogilvy & Mather Global.
Media jury president is Mainardo de Nardis, chief executive of OMD Worldwide, while Direct will be led by Gideon Amichay, former chief creative officer and joint managing partner of Shalmor Avnon Amichay / Y&R Interactive Tel Aviv, Israel.
UK jurors within the latest groups to be announced include: Paul Silburn, creative partner of Saatchi & Saatchi in Outdoor; Steve Jones, creative partner of AMV BBDO, in Press; Karen Blackett, chief executive officer of MediaCom and Alex Altman, chief executive officer of Initiative, in Media; and Caitlin Ryan, executive creative director of Proximity London, in Direct.
Earlier this month, president of the PR Lions category was revealed as Gail Heimann, global vice chair of Weber Shandwick, and president of Promo & Activation is Nick Worthington, creative chairman of Colenso BBDO New Zealand.
Rob McLennan, executive creative director of Network BBDO, South Africa, will take the helm of the Radio Lions Jury. Heading up the Film Craft jury is Ivan Zacharias, director of Stink, UK, while Bruce Duckworth, creative director of Turner Duckworth, UK, will lead this year's design jury.
Philip Thomas, chief executive of Cannes Lions, said: "At the core of Cannes Lions is the work, which every year leaves thousands of international delegates inspired, enthused, and more knowledgeable.
"Our juries play a vital part in showcasing the best in creativity and communications on a global scale and we’re looking forward to bringing these exceptionally talented people together in Cannes to do just this."
Elsewhere, Guardian News and Media is currently conducting a nationwide search to find the brightest new stars in media and advertising through a UK national young creative competition, in which candidates will be receiveing a brief today (23 March) and have this weekend to respond to and prepare their pitches for a judging panel.
The Cannes Young Lions competition is open to all advertising professionals aged 28 or under, working across print, cyber, marketing and media. The winners of the Guardian's competition will go on to represent the UK in Cannes.
The 59th Cannes held between 17-23 June is expected to showcase more than 28,800 entries and be attended by almost 9,500 delegates from 95 countries.
