Radio Academy unveils Sony Awards nominations

The Sony for Best Promotional/Advertising Campaign will go to one of the following: the Radio Advertising Bureau's 'Britain Loves Radio' campaign; 'In The Mind of a Car Thief' by Eagle Radio; TalkSport Creative's Rugby World Cup 2011 trails, or two Fresh Air Productions for the BBC, for Red Nose Day or Wimbledon 2011.

Global Radio's Heart West Midlands, TalkSport and Absolute Radio were nominated in the Best Single Promo/Commercial category. They will go up against BBC trails for the TV show 'Sherlock' and 'The Day Before 9/11' on Radio 4.

106 JACK fm Oxfordshire's '2 Strangers And A Wedding', Absolute Radio's 'Early Morning Game with Christian O’Connell', 'Christmas is Cancelled' on Pirate FM, 'QuizFace' on Xfm and 'Superstar DJ' from BBC Radio 1 are vying for the Best Competition prize.

The Best Station Imaging shortlist is: BBC Radio 1Xtra, BBC Radio 2, the Capital Network, JACK fm Oxfordshire and KISS & Pure Tonic for KISS.

Absolute Radio's 'Absolute 80s', 'Heart Breakfast with James & Charlie' (Heart Kent), and the Classic FM 'Hall of Fame' will go up against BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra homepages and 'Now Playing @ 6 Music' for the Best Use of Multiplatform/Social Media award.

The Awards will be presented on 14 May at London's Grosvenor House hotel and will be hosted by Radio 2 presenter Chris Evans. This year's event will mark the 30th anniversary of these awards.
