HSBC picks Hill+Knowlton for Cutty Sark work
HSBC has picked Hill+Knowlton Strategies to handle media relations for the business' sponsorship of the Cutty Sark.
Cutty Sark Trust: completes its six-year restoration of the ship
The four-year project was announced last month and marks the completion of the Cutty Sark Trust’s six-year restoration of the ship, which is due to reopen to the public on Thursday.
Hill+Knowlton’s focus will be on combining the historical and cultural content of the ship's past with HSBC’s expertise on global trade.
Giles Morgan, HSBC group head of sponsorship and events, said: ‘HSBC was founded in Asia to finance trade with the West five years before the Cutty Sark first set sail in 1870.
‘We still see trade as the biggest driver of economic and business growth today, which our partnership with the Cutty Sark Trust reflects. H+K Strategies is a trusted comms partner of the bank, and we are impressed by its approach to bringing the partnership to life.’
Work on the restoration of the Greenwich-based Cutty Sark, which served as a merchant vessel before going on public display in 1954, was delayed by a fire in 2007.
