Future set to take on video games magazine market

- Future publishing will attempt to undercut the increasingly competitive video game magazine market with the November 1st launch of Video Gamer, which is set to retail at an unprecedented 99p.

The new monthly title will boast 64 pages in its first issue and a print run of 200,000. Future's french sister title, Jeux Video, sold over 120,000 in its first month. A similar performance would place Video Gamer in a strong position in the UK market, trailing only the dominant Official Playstation Magazine.

Future will launch Video Gamer behind a £300,000 press and poster campaign handled by Target media. The title will attempt to profit from the impending launch of Playstation 2 and Microsoft's X box by offering cut price coverage of a full range of console formats.
