MySpace is launching an email service for user

The News Corp-owned social networking site has already given a limited number of users access to the service, but full roll out is expected by the end of the year.

MySpace, like its closest rival Facebook, currently provides users with a messaging service, which is highly popular with its 130 million members. MySpace Mail represents a logical extension of this, allowing the social network to compete with Gmail, Hotmail and Yahoo! Mail.

MySpace has suffered significant upheaval recently, appointing Christopher Moser, the general manager of the company's office in Spain and Portugal, as its new UK managing director, replacing Anthony Lukom.

Lukom left MySpace last month as the social networking site announced it was cutting two-thirds of its international staff from a total of 450 to 150 personnel. In the UK, the company reduced headcount from 150 to 55.
