Independent confident as 2003 pre-tax profit rises 20%

LONDON - Independent News & Media, the Irish media group that owns The Independent and the Belfast Telegraph, posted a 20% rise in full-year pre-tax profit today, saying it was confident that it could further improve its performance in 2004.
