BBC orders second series of Doctor Who as Eccleston to quit after a year

LONDON - Christopher Eccleston has quit as Doctor Who after just one series, as the BBC said it had commissioned a second 13-part series and a Christmas special, following its spectacular debut when 10.5m viewers tuned in to watch on Saturday.
