MARKETING MIX: I’ll name that brand in one!
The origins of this week’s mystery brand go right back to the first century AD to a Persian delicacy called ahbisa. This particular version, however, was launched in 1913 and was an early television advertiser. Its famous campaign line, still used today, was first seen in press ads in 1958 and on exotic TV commercials the following year. With no direct competitor, it is very much an indulgence product and gets its unique flavour from Otto Of Rose essence - 1000 damask roses produce just one ounce of essence. Although the company which launched it was taken over in the 1920s, this female-oriented product is one of just two still branded with the corporate name of its creators. The gold pack we feature here comes from the mid 1950s, but for many years we have associated it with its bright pink brand livery. What is it? Ring the Hotline on 0800 106011 for the chance to win today’s bubbly.
