Scandanavians plan court case over 'free' rule

LONDON - The use of the word "free" by UK marketers is still under threat following moves by the Finnish and Swedish governments to halt the British government's compromise on upcoming EU consumer protection laws.
The UK is planning to ratify the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations, which would ban the word "free" from promotions.
However, while the act will become law on 21 May, the government has said it will not enforce it. The ISP has said Sweden and Finland have informed the EU that they will take the UK government to the European Court of Justice if it takes this course.
