Founder of Global Tolerance puts entire agency on year-long sabbatical
An international PR agency that has worked for charity clients including the Dalai Lama is set to go on a year's sabbatical.

Global Tolerance founder Simon Cohen will be taking the time off ahead of the birth of his first child and to 'take a deep breath and reflect'.
The agency is set to temporarily close on 1 April following the end of the company’s financial year and ahead of the baby's due date of 26 April.
The 1 April date was a coincidence, Cohen told PRWeek, insisting: ‘This is no April fool.'
'We’ve been operating for nine years now and we are all about embracing human values, and there’s no greater value than the value of family,’ he said.
‘Every day we have a 60 second silence around a powerful question, and this is just about prolonging that silence to reflect on achievements. It is important to stop and take a look sometimes.’
The agency, which has worked for the Dalai Lama, We Are Family Foundation and TED, employs seven full-time staff.
It also had a global network of 75 freelancers, a 10-strong board of advisers and four directors, including Cohen.
Cohen said a number of the staff would spend the sabbatical working with ‘clients and on new business prospects’ and had known about the decision for ‘several months’.
‘Anyone who has split up with a partner before will have had thoughts running through their mind about what the other partner will do. But of course the answer is that they will be ok. The people I work with are grown-up human beings, they’re solutions-driven and savvy and they’ve embraced it in a positive, reflective and entrepreneurial way.
'I care for the people at Global Tolerance in the same way I care about my unborn baby and wife. There’s a deeply personal connection there.’
Clients had been understanding about the decision, he said, before pledging that the agency would return.
‘The point is to take a breath and reflect, but one thing is certain – Global Tolerance will be back.’
The agency, which Cohen said was set for 'record revenues' this year, is also set to launch the global Faith Coalition for the UN International Day of Peace.
